Bye Bye Baby Furniture

This was sad to do.  I've used the same "nursery" for all 3 kids and loved the furniture and decor.  I had a lump in my through watching it get carried down and Rory cried, clinging on to the crib rail, because "I've had such good memories in here!!!!".  Little does he know that his father had the same issue which caused his grandmother to keep the crib in the cellar so that he could "visit" whenever he wanted.  No can do in my house.  Now I just need to figure out how to sell this gently used, lovely set so that it can be removed from my front enclosed porch.

Alas, Kelly is over 3 and calling me to help her get up so she can go pee in the morning.  Not okay.  So, I finally broke down, bought a trundle bed, dresser, and nightstand.  Kelly will stay in her room for a couple of months to get used to the big girl bed and not waking everyone up and then she will move in with Shelagh and Rory will get his own room.  Finally, he will be removed from the yellow and pink decor that has surrounded him for 3 1/2 years.  What a good sport.  To celebrate, he has been gifted with a huge Star Wars Death Star (thank you, Pottery Barn Kids, for ripping me off for this one) that has tiny pin lights that turn on and off and take up most of a wall.  He will love it.

Ham, Cheddar, Onion Strata

Instead of making the same old lasagna, I volunteered to make an egg strata for Shelaghs Teacher Appreciation Lunch. Except, I've never made one and had a hard time finding a good recipe. After looking at several, I winged it...it seemed to come out great (from my covert slice out of the corner).

End:

Before Oven:

After Fixins, Before Eggs:

Here's what I did:
12 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
1 large onion
12 slices from a wide French bread loaf, 1 in cubes
1/2 lb sliced ham chopped
1 block cheddar, shredded
Chives
S&P

1) Grease 9 x 13 Pam w butter
2) Spread bread cubes into pan
3) Slowly cook sliced onion until soft and slightly caramelized
4) Add ham and warm for 5 mins
5) Pour onion/ham mixture over bread and cool.
6) Beat eggs, milk, chipped chives, s&p and pour over mixture
7) refrigerate overnight
8) Bake at 375 for 50 mins
9) Sprinkle cheese over top and bake for 5 more mins
10) Rest for 10 mins and serve
